I pursued a Colloquy in Family Ministry in a later life season and was enriched with Dr. Halm as my mentor. I valued his wisdom and honest reflections on my writing assignments prior to submission. Affirmations of quality work carried a lot of weight coming from Ray, an accomplished scholar and servant leader. Stories of Ray’s passionate confidence in God and urgent desire for people to know his Savior never failed to inspire me to follow Jesus more intently. I’m thankful God caused our paths to cross in this life.
Mike and I completed respected and valued Ray’s wisdom and strong faith. He spoke with such assurance that made all who heard him feel moved. We particularly enjoyed his Bible’s studies, sermons, and personal conversations. One of my favorite sermons he talked about a trust fund, “In God We Trust” fund. Ray genuinely trusted God with everything.
He put my family and I at such ease, spending the entire day with us while I had brain surgery. He made it a point to be present, reading me scripture before I went in for surgery, and said “I’ll see you on the other side”, with a confident smile. Now, metiphorically we know we will someday see Ray resting in perfect eternity “on the other side”.

When you were in Ray’s presence he made you feel valued. Even a car ride to the hardware store could result in a deep meaningful conversation.
